Applications are open through the affordable housing lottery for 37 newly constructed apartments at 8 Marcy Ave., in Greenpoint. Rents start at $1,576, for a studio. Eligible applicants for this lottery must earn from $57,395 to $187,330, depending on the size of the household.
The stabilized apartments are studios, one, and two bedrooms set aside for households earning from 80 to 130 percent of the area median income (AMI). This varies depending on how many people you live with. Currently the AMI for New York City is $106,800 for a two-person household.
There are 13 one bedrooms available for renters with incomes from $62,503 to $96,080 depending on the number of people in the household. The rent for these apartments is $1,681.
The apartments have open kitchens with stainless steel appliances. Building amenities, for an additional fee, include parking, bike storage, a shared laundry room, a recreation room, rooftop access, and a business center. There's close proximity to the G, J, L, and M trains.
The developers have set aside 50 percent of the affordable apartments for those who live in the community. There is also a 5 percent preference for NYC employees. A small percentage of apartments will be allocated to applicants with mobility, vision, and hearing needs.
Applications must be submitted online or postmarked no later than December 12th.
