In Case You Missed It: Every so often, BrickUnderground digs through the archives to find the best advice our experts have shared through the years.

Congratulations! You've got interest in your apartment. Now it's time to settle on a price. Here are common missteps that both seller and broker should look out for:

1. Oversharing: Divulging too much information about your circumstances could give your buyers the impression that you're desperate, prompting a lower offer.

2. Ignoring a lowball bid. Don't be offended by it, just counter.

3. Coming back too low. A barely-there counter-offer could persuade your buyer to walk.

4. Focusing on price alone. Other things are part of the negotiation, too, like closing costs, contingencies and the timeline.

5. Accepting an offer as is. You could be leaving money on the table!
