Affordable rentals for as cheap as $802/month in East Harlem have started taking applications, per a new listing on NYC Housing Connect.

There are just nine rentals up for grabs in the recently renovated building at 2049 5th Avenue (between 126th and 127th streets), a mix of studios, one-bedrooms, and two-bedrooms for applicants with annual incomes between $28,869 and $112,190 per year. A full list of available options and requirements can be found below (click to enlarge):

However, renter beware: This building was last in the news over tenant claims that its owners at nonprofit West Harlem Group Assistance had let it fall into disrepair while trying to get them out of the building (they weren't able to renovate until it was totally empty). And WHGA has been plagued by claims that its buildings are poorly kept up, as the New York Daily News has reported

But if you're still interested, you can apply online via NYC Housing Connect, or send a self-addressed envelope to  Wavecrest Management Team, LTD., Attn: 2049 5th Avenue, 87-14 116th Street, Richmond Hill, NY 11418, in order to get a paper copy of the application. The deadline to apply is February 16th.
