Most in-demand NYC nabes, closing the 'Frankenstein loophole,' & more

This week, readers checked out a list of neighborhoods to watch in 2024, which is based on searches on StreetEasy for rent and sales listings. Ridgewood tops the ranking and neighborhoods in Queens dominate the list.

Interestingly, renters may find deals in an unusual place this year: Manhattan. According to StreetEasy economist Kenny Lee, Manhattan rents are expected to drop as a result of an increase in new listings. 

Also of interest: Albany lawmakers ended the ability for landlords to jack up rents on newly configured rent-stabilized apartments.
