A waterfront four-bedroom house that's halfway between NYC and Boston
We're big fans of the Connecticut shoreline here on Brick Underground, and this four-bedroom, two-and-a-half bathroom house is located in Madison, one of the tonier towns in that area. The house is situated at the head of Dream Lake (how apt, considering how dreamy this spot is), and the entire property covers a little over four acres. The photos testify to an idyll-like summer existence for anyone who stays there in the warmer climes, though we suspect it's also relaxing to live in year-round.
The kitchen and baths have clearly been upgraded recently (that kitchen has two separate seating areas, btw!), there's a full walk-out basement, and a large sunroom that looks out over the lake. (Thanks to all the modern upgrades, this house seems perfectly comfortable either as a full-time home or a county house.)
And about that kitchen: It's a chef's (or chef-wannabe's) dream, with its generous elbow room (the better for maneuvering around), marble counters, double convection ovens, and two under-counter refrigerator drawers (in addition to a regular-sized one).
And all four bedrooms are on the second floor. The master has a remodeled bathroom and its own secluded balcony with a view of the lake. We honestly can't think of a better spot for a morning cup of joe.
The property has over 300 feet of lake shoreline, and if you ever tire of the lake (unthinkable), there are hiking trails nearby.
And for $500,000, it costs just slightly more than your average Manhattan studio co-op. No board applications or interviews required, of course.
