If you’re preparing to buy an apartment in New York City, you’re likely focusing on places that are move-in ready. That’s because Covid safety protocols, an ongoing supply chain crisis, and inflation all make renovating in this city even more difficult than usual.

Even when the pandemic is not a factor, a NYC apartment renovation is not for the faint of heart, especially in a co-op building: You need to jump through many hoops and get the green light from the board and permits from the city. You can expect delays and you might have to wait your turn if your neighbors are doing their own upgrades.

So skipping the work and focusing on apartments that are already renovated removes those headaches. Of course, you’ll have to pay more: Fully-renovated apartments are pricier thanks to increased demand these days, but you can find some deals if you’re flexible about the neighborhood.

To help with your search, here are five gut-renovated co-ops listed for less than $3,000,000 in Sutton Place, Greenwich Village, Upper West Side, Lenox Hill, and Soho.
