Is this pet-friendly Hudson Heights apartment for $3,000 a month a find?

This $3,000 corner two-bedroom in Hudson Heights (the western part of Washington Heights) has prewar features, like a sunken living room and pretty decent closet space.

While the listing claims it's a two-and-a-half bedroom, we think that's pushing it. It looks more like a two-bedroom with a dining area to us. We suppose you could wall that off, but the apartment would be more enjoyable (and spacious) as a true two-bedroom.

The building has key-card laundry, elevator and a live-in super. Pets up to 45 pounds are allowed.

The nearest train is the A, which is great if you work at 59th Street (since it jumps from 125 to 59th), but can be less reliable on weekends. On the plus side, you're walking distance from Fort Tryon Park, one of the city's best kept secrets.

Pros and cons:

"Both bedrooms are king sized with two closets each (!), and the master bedroom has its own en-suite bathroom. I also like the sunken living room, since it differentiates the space. On the con side, it's apartment 2F, which means that it probably doesn't have much of a view and is likely lacking in the light department. And Hudson Heights doesn't have the conveniences and bustling city feel of other parts of Manhattan." —Lucy

The downside is only the schlep to Midtown but, then again, if you’re ready to dip your toes into Washington Heights, this place is for you." —Lambeth
