Don't cancel that open house: Joaquin likely to bypass NYC
Your weekend plans may be salvaged after all. According to reports, Hurricane Joaquin will spare the East Coast and head out to sea. Governor Cuomo has said that the state is still prepared, adding that he “would not be utterly shocked if we turned on the broadcast and they said guess what, the hurricane changed direction."
On WNYC's “The Brian Lehrer Show” this morning Mayor de Blasio said the city was prepared, too. Either way—and since it's still hurricane season—we suggest you read up on our tips to dealing with a storm in NYC.
And this doesn't mean it'll be a great weekend to plan a park picnic or go apple picking: rain and wind is still expected for most of the day today and some of tomorrow, according to Weather.com.
