No-Fee Building of the Week: Full-service Battery Park City high-rise in great school zone
Riverwatch at 70 Battery Place in Battery Park City has three apartments listed for rent: a studio for $2,300, a one-bedroom for $2,900, and a two-bedroom, two-bath for $4,150. The two-bedroom is particularly attractive for families with young children, as Riverwatch is zoned for P.S. 267, a new and highly regarded nearby elementary school.
The full-service, pet-friendly building was built in 1999, and has a concierge, fitness center, landscaped outdoor spaces, a garage and a bike room. As noted on a current StreetEasy thread, Battery Park City is not for everyone ("fabulous place to live" vs. "buildings are architecturally vapid shoeboxes"), but at least renting here instead of buying eliminates the land-lease/high common charge dilemma facing nearby condos.
