Rats!!

Move over bichon frises--you’ve got competition. The Daily News reports that some New Yorkers would rather have...rats. According to the article, “[r]at owners rave about their unlikely companions, describing them as playful, clean and more affectionate than dogs.” One Manhattan mom, Dianne Rochenski, even sleeps with her rats. We’re not ones to judge another person’s pets, but we do advise that if a rat owner is looking to sell his/her apartment, the pets find someplace else to nest during the open house. As for the ensuing co-op board package,  will we see letters of recommendation for free-range rat companions next?  (NYDN)
