As reported by Curbed yesterday, the national real estate site Trulia asked 1,200 American couples to rank the relative importance of 11 home features, including having a jacuzzi tub for two, dual sinks, a fireplace, etc. While women (21%) craved abundant storage the most, they were very much in agreement (19%) with their male counterpoints' top desire (18%) for a bedroom big enough for a king-sized bed.
The William Beaver House, located at 15 William Street in the Financial District, has seen some troubled times. But following a recent change in ownership, 209 unsold condos will be made available for rent. Our no-fee apartment of the week is 11E, a 1,300 square foot two-bedroom, two-bathroom brand-new unit with an in-unit washer/dryer.
This loft-like two-bedroom two-bath co-op at 170 East 90th Street comes with a custom cherry kitchen, new hardwood floors, a washer/dryer in the unit, a gas fireplace, brick walls, large mounted flat-screen TV, high ceilings and pre-war details. The building has a shared roof deck, is on a tree-lined street, and allows pets. What the building doesn't have, however, is an elevator, so those toting a youngster would probably rather look elsewhere.
Recently we pointed to a new Upper East Side rental building that has taken the bold step of going totally smoke free. Given last week's ruling by a Federal District Court judge in Nassau County, reported yesterday by Crain's New York Business, we wonder whether more smoke-free rentals will be cropping up in the near future.
According to the Parents League of New York, New York City private schools will be mailing their kindergarten and first grade admissions decisions this Friday (2nd through 8th grade notices went out yesterday).
