Dear Ms. Demeanor,
We are renovating the apartment next door and, while blissfully separated from the dust and most of the noise, I also feel like I am not making enough of an effort to get to know the workmen or offer them food and drinks like I would if they were in my living space.
What is the proper etiquette for this situation?

I have a neighbor who has never been my cup of tea, but my younger daughter and hers get along, so I would occasionally drop her off for a playdate.

Summer is here and so is the sand. Whether from the playground or beach or God knows where, a family with young children on our floor change their sandy children outside their apartment and leave the mess for the building staff to clean up. Once in a while I have cleaned it up myself if it is not taken care of in a timely fashion. I think this is incredibly rude but don't know how to approach the issue or with whom.
