Emily studied journalism at the University of the Arts, London, earned an MA Honors degree in English Literature from the University of Edinburgh and lived for a decade in California. In spite of her itinerant background, she has been living in the same Brooklyn rental since 2016.

If you're renting a townhouse, the cost of renter's insurance will be affected by the valuation of your contents and the coverage limits. Basic coverage will be similar to an apartment rental ($150-$300) but if you have luxury items or the landlord insists on $1 million in liability, the premiums could double.
