Hamptons, North Fork markets hit 'warp speed' in the fourth quarter

The number of sales doubled in the Hamptons and the North Fork in the fourth quarter of 2020—and on Long Island they were up 30.6, according to the latest Elliman Reports for the quarter and for the 2020 decade.

Luxury buyers seemed to have voted with their wallets, shunning condos in Trump buildings in New York City. As a result, prices fell amid shrinking demand during the former president’s one-term in office.
A new report from real estate analytics firm UrbanDigs found that the average price per square foot in Trump-branded buildings have fallen since Trump took office from $2,065 in 2016 to $1,619 in 2020—a difference of $446. New leases rose sharply for the Manhattan, Brooklyn, and Queens rental markets in December, according to the latest Elliman Report. “For the third straight month, new lease signings rose to their highest level for the current month since the financial crisis,” says Jonathan Miller, president and CEO of appraisal firm Miller Samuel and author of the report.
