Three zip codes in the Hamptons top list of the most expensive real estate markets in the U.S.

Where are the priciest real estate markets in New York? The answer, according to RealtyHop’s third-annual Most Expensive Zip Codes Report, is the East End of Long Island, which nabbed three of the top 10 spots on this year’s list.
That’s where you find Sagaponack, NY, the second most-expensive zip code in the U.S. with a median asking price of $6,972,000. The oceanfront village, in the Town of Southampton in Suffolk County, is less than five square miles. (In the top spot for the third year in a row is 94027 in Atherton, California, with a median listing price of $9,000,000.)
Number six on the list is Water Mill, NY (another village in the Hamptons and next to Sagaponack), where the median listing price is $5,500,000. Bridgehampton’s 11931 made its way into the top 10 for the first time in the 10th spot, with a median asking price of $4,395,000.
New York landed a total of 22 out of 100 of the priciest zip codes in the survey, including 10013, 10007, 10001, 10012, 10069, 11231 in Manhattan.
To create the report, RealtyHop pulled every real estate listing advertised in the U.S. so far this year—all 3.64 million of them—sorted them by zip code, then ranked the zip codes by median price.
Top five zip codes with largest jump in median asking price
Among the five zip codes with the largest asking price increase in this year’s report is Amagansett’s 11930 (it is also in the Hamptons), which climbed 39.46 percent to $4,250,000. In the Town of Oyster Bay in Nassau County, 11765 in Mill Neck, NY (number 15 on the list) also had a significant jump, rising 35.59 percent to a median price of $4,000,000.
Expensive zip codes got even more expensive
This year’s report found 60 zip codes have a median price point of at least $2,500,000, compared to 47 in 2021. And the median price point of the 100 most expensive zip codes is $2,749,500, an increase of 11.03 percent from $2,476,250 last year.
