A housing lottery opens for 224 apartments on the waterfront in Greenpoint
Applications are open for 224 newly constructed apartments at 227 West St. and 27 Eagle St. in Greenpoint, Brooklyn, through the affordable housing lottery. The apartments are for New Yorkers who earn $51,840 to $206,875, depending on your household size.
The rent-stabilized apartments are studios, one, two, and three bedrooms set aside for people with incomes ranging from 80 percent to 130 percent of the area median income. (The area median income for a two-person household in New York City is $106,800.) Rents start at $1,437 a month for a studio.
The nearest subway station is Greenpoint Avenue where you can catch the G train.
Close to the waterfront, the pet-friendly building has a dog park and dog washing station. In fact the list of amenities is extensive and includes bike storage, electric car charging stations, a party room, media room, roof terrace, and pool. Additional fees apply for some of the amenities and tenants are responsible for electricity. The apartments have hardwood floors, smart heating and cooling systems, washer/dryers, and dishwashers.
There are 43 two-bedroom apartments available for renters with incomes of $104,675 to $133,500. The rent for these apartments is $2,943.
The developers have set aside 50 percent of the affordable apartments for those who live in the community. There is also a 5 percent preference for NYC employees. A small percentage of apartments are designed for those who need assistance with mobility or vision and hearing.
Applications must be submitted online or postmarked no later than September 12th.
