Where buyers can find the priciest zip codes in 2021
Despite a very challenging year, the asking prices in the most expensive zip codes in the U.S. became 7.1 percent pricier compared to last year, according to a new ranking from RealtyHop.
New York City has three of the most expensive zip codes in the U.S. in 2021, based on for-sale residential listings from RealtyHop’s database from January 1st through October 20th.
New York State has 20 out of the 100 priciest zip codes, with an 11.79 percent median asking price increase from last year. The zip code with the most growth from last year was 11954 (Montauk). The median asking price in Montauk this year was $2,599,000, up 34 percent from $1,945,000 last year.
The zip code 11962 for Sagaponack in the Hamptons is New York’s most expensive zip code, and third priciest overall.
New York is second to California, which has 63 zip codes on the list, and Los Angeles is the most exclusive city, with eight of the top 100 most expensive zip codes, lead by Atherton, where the median sales price of $8,950,000 increased from $8,659 last year.
The U.S.’s 100 priciest zips are located in just 11 states, and 83 percent are found within California and New York. Fisher Island, FL, was the only zip code outside of these two states to break the top 15. New Jersey took third place with five zip codes and Connecticut fourth with three zip codes.
