Open houses are crowded again in New York City with some brokers reporting long lines to see apartments in popular neighborhoods. Although you can get a good sense of what’s on the market by doing an online search, you’ll want to check out what’s available in your price range in person.

Right now most open houses are appointment-only, but there are some that don’t require them. Open house details are typically included in the apartment listing.

Keep in mind that the rental market is extremely competitive right now so if you’re seeing a place you’re very interested in, come prepared with all of your documents so you can apply for the apartment right away.

To help with your apartment search, Brick found these five one bedrooms under $4,000 a month with upcoming open houses in Turtle Bay, Yorkville, Fort Greene, Hunters Point, and Sutton Place.
