New York City parents know if you can’t take the kids to the beach or pool when the mercury spikes, you can take them to a city playground to splash around.

Not only are there over 600 water features at NYC's 500 parks and playgrounds, 10 new ones have been added in the past year or so, like a new spray shower at Ennis Playground in Gowanus.

“These spray showers are definitely one of the best features of NYC playgrounds,” says Liat Halpern, an urban planner at Localize.city, a home-search platform that tracks local amenities like upgrades in nearby parks. “It’s just such an easy way to help your kids play in some cool water without the lines of a public pool or the many safety risks of playing in a fire hydrant in the street.”

Here are 10 new water attractions in city playgrounds:

1) Domino Park

300 Kent Ave., Williamsburg, Brooklyn

There are 88 water jets at this new park that has a great view of the Manhattan skyline.

2) Lincoln Terrace Park

Eastern Parkway, East New York Avenue between Rochester Avenue and Portal Street, Crown Heights, Brooklyn

This playground just got a $3 million revamp, which includes a colorful spray shower.

3) Sunset Park

7th Avenue & 43rd Street, Sunset Park, Brooklyn

The spray shower was updated last spring and is next to a renovated playground in the 24.5-acre park.

4) Ten Eyck Playground

Scholes Street between Bushwick Avenue and Waterbury Street, East Williamsburg, Brooklyn

Last spring a new splash fountain with bright colors was added to this East Williamsburg park.

5) Kissena Corridor Park

47-67 Colden St., Flushing, Queens

Two new spray fountains were installed in December in the Silent Spring playground.

6) Dutch Kills Playground

36th Avenue & Crescent Street, Long Island City, Queens

A new splash fountain officially opened here last month.

662 Park Ave., Bedford-Stuyvesant, Brooklyn

The playground has a new sprinkler thanks to a renovation completed last summer.

302 Sea Breeze Ave., Coney Island, Brooklyn

This park added new playgrounds and a spray shower in late 2018.
