The village of Cold Spring, New York, is one of the Hudson Valley's most charming spots, thanks to its picturesque Main Street and sweeping mountain and river views. Just a quick Metro-North ride from Grand Central, you'll find charming antique shops, eateries like Hudson Hil's Market & Cafe, and the elegant Hudson House Inn, and a British-themed store called The Country Goose and Highland Basket, where you can get special across-the-pond treats like real Cadbury eggs and Licorice allsorts.

Cold Spring is also close to popular hiking trails like Breakneck Ridge, located between Cold Spring and Beacon, and Anthony's Nose, which connects with the Appalachian Trail. The Boscobel House and Gardens in neighboring Philipstown is home to the area's annual Hudson Valley Shakespeare Festival. Cold Spring is also about a half-hour drive to the famed outdoor sculpture destination Storm King Art Center, and it's a 10-minute drive to the see contemporary art at Dia:Beacon, both of which you can also access via Metro-North.

The village and its surrounding area are also full of beautiful houses, with antique Victorians and contemporary residences. Consider, for instance, the three-bedroom, four-bath property at 50 Mountain Brook Dr., now on the market for $865,000. The move-in ready house was built in 2001 and opens with an airy, two-story great room, complete with big windows and sliding-glass doors. There's also a wood-burning fireplace (not pictured).

The den, kitchen, and dining room are arranged in an open-concept design. The den's got floor-to-ceiling windows and deck access.

And the dining area, which has tiled floors and access to the deck.

There's also a separate sitting room, with a stone wood-burning fireplace.

This room's purpose isn't clear from the listing, but it looks like the current owners are using it as a small office space.

There's a spacious master bedroom.

The house is just over an hour's drive from Manhattan. You can also take Metro-North from Grand Central to Cold Spring; the house is a 15-minute drive from the train station.
