A one bedroom with custom storage in a prewar co-op in Lincoln Square, for $3,500
Lincoln Square is one of those New York City neighborhoods that pretty much has it all: shopping, restaurants, several transit options, easy access to nearby Central Park and, at its heart, Lincoln Center. It’s an upscale—and expensive—neighborhood, but you can find some (relative) deals here.
Take 17 West 64th St., #4B, for instance. The prewar one bedroom is in a 1924 co-op building just had a price drop and is now asking $3,500 a month, which is about $250 less than the median asking rent for the neighborhood, according to StreetEasy.
Since this apartment is in a co-op building, you should confirm that the owner has the board's approval to rent out the apartment to avoid any surprises down the line. There's also a chance you may need the approval of the co-op board to rent the apartment.
#4B has recently been gut renovated, and has new cherry oak floors and crown molding throughout, plus double-pane soundproof windows, AC in the living room and bedroom, and custom California Closets storage systems in all closets. (The listing doesn’t indicate how many closets there are).
The living room is a nice size, with two large windows on one wall, track lighting on another, and room to fit a dining table.
The kitchen is small, with just a handful of cabinets and a small patch of counter space, but there is a window, a pretty grayish-blue backsplash, and stainless-steel appliances, including a dishwasher and full-size fridge.
The bedroom, seen in main photo at top, is sizable and bright thanks to two large windows, and there is a white custom-built along one wall that has eight drawers, two tall cabinets on either end, and six open shelves on top.
The windowed bath looks to be a decent size and has a glass-enclosed shower, medicine cabinet, and marble sink and vanity with drawers.
The building is not pet-friendly, and while there is no doorman, it has a security intercom, live-in super, and central laundry room. There is an open house today from 5:30-7 p.m.
In addition to being flanked by Central Park to the east and Lincoln Square to the west, the apartment is also near restaurants like Bar Boulud and brunch favorite The Smith as well as retailers Century 21, Zara, and an Apple Store, to name a few.
As for transportation, the 1 is just a block west at 66th Street, while the A, B, C, and D trains are four blocks south at 59th Street-Columbus Circle.
