5 condos in Downtown Los Angeles, La La Land's most walkable neighborhood
Gold Coast Investments
When you think of Los Angeles, you don't typically think of a pedestrian-friendly locale, unless you enjoy walking along a road divider. But the city's downtown area is a far cry from its other neighborhoods dominated by strip malls and freeways. Thanks to revitalization efforts over the last few decades, much of Downtown LA is now a thriving cultural hub, boasting popular restaurants like Drago Centro and Guisados, lively hangouts like the Ace Hotel and Angel City Brewery, and a slew of stores. DTLA is home to the L.A. Life entertainment complex, which includes the large-capacity Staples Center, in addition to cultural touchstones like The Broad, and Little Tokyo, home to funky Japanese shops and the best sushi in the city.
It's also pretty newcomer-friendly—while Los Angeles is notoriously hard to navigate without a car, DTLA is accessible via the Metro bus and rail lines, and since the neighborhood itself is mostly walkable, it is especially inviting for New Yorkers who aren't prepared to get trapped in their cars. And, of course, the weather is...well, it's L.A., it's perfect almost all the time.
The real estate in DTLA consists primarily of relatively new condo developments, a significant number of which are priced lower than comparable spaces in Manhattan, though you can still find multimillion dollar penthouses if that's what you're looking for. Here's a sampling of what's available:
