Long Island City is expecting a wave of new apartments—a recent study by Localize.city that found that more apartments are scheduled to go up in LIC than in any other neighborhood in New York City. There were 1,436 apartments approved this year, according to the report. However that inventory could easily be absorbed by the 25,000 employees that Amazon expects to hire for its new second headquarters there. While still unofficial, the highly publicized move is expected to raise rents for the area.

If you are interested in getting into LIC ahead of the tech giant, here are five two bedrooms in LIC (and neighboring Hunters Point) where you can live for under $3,000 a month.
