My mother used to spend her summers and occasional weekends in Morris County, New Jersey, located about 25 miles east of New York City. We paid her old haunts a visit a few years ago, and the area is as lovely as she remembered, replete with leafy trees, boat docks, woods, and lakes. The area is still a thriving all-season spot. Denville, considered the hub of Morris County, thanks to its numerous transportation options, is an artsy 17,000-person township, offering up breweries, spas, art studios, and a thriving farmer's market, in addition to easy access to lakes, woods, and hiking trails.

If any of that sounds appealing to you, consider this two-bedroom, two-bath ranch house at 171 Hillcrest Dr., now on the market for $435,000. The house is located in the Cedar Lake community, and comes with access to a clubhouse, boat docks, and other amenities. The property was rebuilt in 2006 and comes with a neighboring lot to preserve its gorgeous panoramic views of Morris County and the New York skyline. You can see some of the views from the house's open concept "loft" space on its top level:

The view is outstanding, and only amplified by the living room's cathedral ceilings and ample windows.

There's space for a dining table as well.

The kitchen has a tile floor and some nice wood detailing.

Here's a shot of the whole space.

There's a family room with a porcelain tile floor and a fireplace.

This is also part of the family room, and you can see the stairs leading down to the bedrooms.

The master bedroom, located on the lower level, has incredible views, in addition to a propane fireplace, carpeted floors, and exposed brick.

The second bedroom is less spacious, but features a Brazilian cherry hardwood floor.

Here's one of the baths.

And a wine cellar cleverly carved into the house's bedrock.

Outdoor space includes this 45-foot deck.

And a garden with a view of the house's fairy tale-esque custom siding.

But you're here for the views, which are exquisite.

Even winter looks beautiful.

The house is about a one hour drive from New York City.
