The apartment is listed for $1,795 a month, with half a month free, which is an unusual concession considering that most landlords offer one full month free. The rent is a bit above the $1,550 median listing rent for a one bedroom in the neighborhood.
The building is five blocks from Yankee Stadium, and essentially on top of the Bronx courthouses, so the apartment would also be great for a single workaholic in the legal field. But being in the center of the Bronx nerve center isn't for everybody, not to mention the proximity to Yankees sports bars and bail bonds offices, but the central location means basic grocery and clothes shopping are right outside, as are heavily used parks that surround the stadium and Bronx Supreme Court.
The floors are wood and appear recently redone. The foyer has a coat closet and a strange nook that looks like a door-less closet, which a creative, design-minded person could have some fun with.
The galley kitchen has quartz counters, copious cabinets, and new-looking appliances, and, according to the listing, a dishwasher. It opens onto a windowed dining area.
The living room (pictured at top) is expansive.
The bedroom is simple and not huge, but it is on a corner and has two windows, one of which doesn't face a brick wall.
The bathroom is compact, but big enough for a bath and shower, and under-sink storage.
For the Manhattan commuter, the B, D, and 4 trains are also five blocks away at 161st Street-Yankee Stadium, offering a half-hour ride into Midtown.
