This Midtown East one bedroom has room to spare, plus a view of the UN

Size and layout can make or break an apartment. This prewar Turtle Bay one bedroom, 865 United Nations Plaza, #3C, is relatively large, at over 930 square feet—some new construction condos with two bedrooms and two baths don’t even have that much space—and it has a good, functional layout. At $950,000, it’s priced below the $995,000 median for one-bedroom condos in the area, per StreetEasy

The east-facing living room and bedroom get plenty of sunlight, and have a view of the United Nations building. The apartment also has been renovated and features refinished hardwood floors throughout.

The entry foyer is large enough for a side table, and has not only a closet, which would make for an ideal place for coats and shoes, but also a walk-in closet at its other end.

The living room, with a high-beamed ceiling, is more than 22 feet in length and can comfortably fit a dining table near the entry along with a living set toward the windows.

Though narrow, the windowed kitchen has been refinished with a marble countertop, Sub-Zero refrigerator, dishwasher, and new cabinets. It also has four built-in shelves for cookbooks or whatever you want to keep close at hand.

United Nations Plaza is essentially part of First Avenue. The building is located between 48th and 49th streets. The subway is a bit of hike: The nearest trains are the 6 at 51st Street and Lexington Avenue, and the E and M with an entrance at 53rd Street and Third Avenue. On the plus side: There are plenty of shops and restaurants in the area.
