Luxury rentals along the High Line offer lots of goodies, but $3,000 will only get you a studio
The 2009 opening of the High Line—the 1.45-mile-long elevated public park built on a historic freight railway—ignited a real estate boom along the West Side of Manhattan, ushering in new office towers, such 40 Tenth Ave., a dramatic 10-story glass building; and luxury condo buildings like 520 West 28th, a startlingly futuristic design by the late architect Zaha Hadid; and 515 West 29th, a project from architect Soo K. Chan that offers outdoor space for each of its 12 apartments.
New luxury rentals buildings are also part of this boom and they are notable for offering renters amenities more often associated with high-end condo buildings. But the pricing may strike some renters as absurd: rents near the High Line for a studio run around $3,000 (and much higher and some people think that's just nuts). But if you can swing it, here are five apartments along the High Line that can be yours for about $3,000 a month.
