A total 28 discounted apartments are available in the East Village through the city housing lottery.
The apartments are studios and one, two, and three bedrooms in 751 East Sixth St., a new, mixed-income building at Avenue D. Rents start at $596 a month, for a studio, and apartments are available for people in two income brackets: households making $22,320-$67,620 a year, and households making $68,709-$135,590 a year. Studios for the latter group are $1,949 a month.
The rest of the apartments in the 12-story building will rent for market rates. There is supposed to be ground-floor retail, lobby staff, an on-site manager, a gym, a roof deck, a terrace, and for an additional fee, bike parking.

The building is a 20-minute walk from the J, M, Z, and F at Delancey-Essex, as well as the L at First Avenue, and the 6 at Astor Place. Crosstown buses stop nearby, as does the M9, with service to the Financial District. East River Park is one long block away, over a pedestrian bridge.
