This 2,172-square-foot house at 100 King St. in Red Hook is charming with many old-school artist's-garret touches, including beamed ceilings and a wood-burning stove. Listed for $1,995,000, the three-bedroom, one-and-a-half-bath is a not-especially-humble 25 feet across, and it has a studio in back for the artist on the make.

The house has an eat-in kitchen which opens to an elevated patio.

The basement has been renovated to be a bright family room with an open layout, and both this level and the parlor floor open to a garden.

Out here is where you find the cozy shack perfect for writing, painting, or using as a workshop.

The townhouse is located right off the main drag of Van Brunt Street, a half block from Coffey Park. Small shops and popular restaurants are nearby, and Fairway and Ikea are close as well.

Transportation options in Red Hook are a bit sparse. The closest subway stop is about a 25-minute walk away at Smith-Ninth streets in Gowanus. There commuters can pick up the F and G trains. But there's also a ferry that can get you to Wall Street in about 20 minutes. and buses that'll take you to Downtown Brooklyn in about the same amount of time.
