The house is three blocks from the Bergen Street F and G station.

Built in 1900, this townhouse near busy Smith Street in Boerum Hill has recently been renovated and turned into a single-family rental. The three bedroom, two bath has a lot of storage space, a finished rec room, a large kitchen, and exposed brick in parts. Listed by Compass for $6,995 a month, the house could be a good fit for people who are interested in trying out the Brooklyn neighborhood without the commitment of buying (and who have deep pockets. The asking rent is well above that of other Boerum Hill three bedrooms).

You enter the townhouse through a private front garden. The open plan living and dining room has new hardwood floors and exposed brick and the windowed kitchen looks chef-friendly, with plentiful storage and butcher block counter space, plus what look like stainless steel counters and appliances.

Upstairs, the master bedroom looks sunny and has multiple closets. The bathroom on this level is equipped with a marble vanity and a stylish basin sink.

On the lower level, the finished basement could make for a great play area or media room. It's also where you'll find a washer and dryer. The floor plan reflects a few potential cons, though: The other two bedrooms (not pictured in the listing) look quite small, and the second bathroom is off the living room, which could be an inconvenient arrangement.

In the "pro" column: There's central air conditioning, and pets are permitted.
