Applications open today for 80 discounted apartments in Tremont, the Bronx through the city's affordable housing lottery.

The apartments are studios in a new building at 411 East 178th St., set aside for single people making $25,029-$40,080 a year. They are set to rent for $675 a month.

The building, called the Webster Residence, will also include supportive housing apartments for formerly homeless people and families with special needs, with social services on site. It's part of a two-building affordable-housing complex built by the organization Breaking Ground. Webster Residence has 24-hour security, a gym, a garden, a courtyard, a computer lab, coin laundry, and bike storage.

The building is a block from the Tremont Metro-North station, and eight blocks from the Tremont Avenue B and D station. It's also five blocks from an express bus stop.
