Pyramid-shaped luxury building in Hell's Kitchen is now taking applications for 'affordable' apartments
Applications are open on Housing Connect for 36 below-market rate apartments in Via 57 West, a striking new pyramid-shaped luxury development, designed by Bjarke Ingles, facing the Hudson River in Hell's Kitchen. Studios and one-, two-, and three-bedroom units are available to renters earning between 90 and 120 percent of the area median income, which perhaps stretches the definition of "affordable." For instance, New Yorkers earning as much as $80,000 per year can apply for studios renting for $1,949 per month.

The property has 24-hour doorman service and in-unit washers and dryers. Renters have to pay an extra fee to make use of amenities like a gym, basketball court, golf simulator, movie screening room, pool, and landscaped courtyard. Note that, given the building's riverside location between 11th and 12th avenues, residents will be several avenues from the nearest subway station, which in this case is at Columbus Circle.
Preference for the units goes to current residents of New York City.
