Would you rather have weed smoke or cigarette smoke infiltrating your apartment?
You’re just about to sit down for dinner when the odor drifts into your apartment, hovering in the air for the duration of the meal. Or perhaps you're turning into bed for the night when the smell wafts in. Would you rather that the source be a neighbor smoking marijuana or a cigarette? Here’s what five New Yorkers had to say about their preferences.
Pot smokers are cooler
I live on the first floor and already can’t open my windows because of the massive amounts of cigarette smoke coming in. Plus, let’s be honest, my neighbors who smoke weed are super chill.—Alicia, Prospect Lefferts Gardens, Brooklyn
Weed, please
At least I will get a contact high.—Alisha, Midwood, Brooklyn (pictured below)
What will I tell the little one?
The last thing I need to explain to my kid is why mommy seems to get the munchies whenever it smells like pine cone smoke outside.—Jacqueline, Sunnyside, Queens
Weed, by a hair
Both suck when I’m trying to get to sleep. But I’d prefer MJ. At least I know someone’s having a good time!—Genesis, Financial District
Better stoned than stinky
At least if there’s weed smoke blowing into my apartment I can...reap the benefits, whereas the only thing cigarette smoke will ever do for me is severely impact my Tinder pool.—Brooke, Murray Hill
The verdict: Majority rules. Given the two choices of secondhand smoke, New Yorkers prefer pot.
