Rent in a new Prospect Heights building for as little as $856/month
In a busy summer for affordable housing lotteries, another new option has opened up, with applications now open for 15 affordable apartments in 317 St. Marks Avenue, a new development building in Prospect Heights.
Per the listing posted on NYC Housing Connect, the apartments are a mix of studios, one-bedrooms, and two-bedrooms, with prices ranging from $856/month to $1,114/month, depending on the apartment and family size. You can see the full list of apartment sizes, prices, and income requirements below (click to enlarge):
The rentals appear to be part of The Brooklyn Zinc, a new development with "spacious loft-inspired residences," and amenities including a gym, landscaped roof terrace, parking, and dog run, though none of those are listed on the Housing Connect listing, so it's unclear if those will be made available to tenants in the affordable units. (Leasing doesn't appear to have started for the building yet, so no word on what they're charging for the market-rate apartments.)
As usual for this type of development, preference for half of the affordable apartments will be given to current neighborhood residents, which in this case means residents of Brooklyn's Community Board 8.
If you're interested and think you qualify, you can create a profile and apply online via NYC Housing Connect, or request a paper application by mailing a self-addressed envelope to 313 St Marks Avenue, C/O Metropolitan Realty Exemptions, 118 Middleton Street, Brooklyn NY 11206. (Don't send in more than one application, or you could be disqualified from the running.) Applications are due by June 21st.
