This one-bedroom, 1.5-bath duplex is in a building with a high-end history: The Union Square property was built in the late 1800s as the headquarters for Tiffany & Company, and then had a stint as the home to Amalgamated Bank before its condo conversion in 2008.

Its most striking architectural detail are its cast iron stanchions, featured prominently in this unit's double-height windows. And the apartment, listed for $3.395 million by Douglas Elliman, comes with a price tag reflective of its luxe history and redesign, helmed by architect Amanda Sullivan.

The dark wood floors and massive, cast iron-framed windows add drama to the open living and dining space. The adjacent kitchen is similarly striking, equipped with brand-name appliances, quartz countertops, and stylish pendant lighting, yet made more intimate with a lower ceiling.

A glass staircase (see main image) leads up to the master suite, which includes a walk-in closet and, by the windows, a nook that's perfect for reading. The attached bathroom boasts double sinks, a walk-in shower, and a claw foot tub, perhaps a nod to the building's history.

The apartment has smart home technology, and can come with or without the furnishings pictured here. And the building's teeming with amenities, including full-time doorman and concierge service, a fitness center, yoga studio, spa, and lap pool.
