Fantasy listing alert: Live in this massive West Village townhouse (for $40,000 per month)
It's not often that a rental like this one--a huge West Village townhouse that oozes rustic-chic style--comes along. Previously, two lucky renters got to enjoy the 3,400-square foot space, complete with a tricked-out private roof deck, for a mere $1 a month: The home was being leased by SpareRoom CEO Rupert Hunt, who invited New Yorkers to apply to be his roommates in the dream home for a pittance.
If you'd like to live here, though, you won't be so lucky: SpareRoom communications director Matt Hutchinson says that Hunt's lease is up, so he and his two very fortunate roomies are moving, and the three-bedroom, two-bath is back on the market, listed by Scott Parks International Realty for $40,000 per month. You can rent the home furnished for three to six months, making this ideal for a high-roller planning on a short-term stay in the city. The listing also invites renters to inquire about longer leases.
On the third floor, the open plan living space delivers loads of industrial cool, with its exposed ceiling beams, piping, and brick, and a skylight and large casement windows help to brighten things up. There's more than enough room for separate living and dining areas; in fact, you could easily throw a full-fledged dance party here. The gleaming white kitchen creates a spot of contrast against all the rustic details, and features upscale fixtures, finishes, and appliances.
On the second floor, the angled layout of the master bedroom leaves space for an office nook in one corner. The sunny space comes with its own dressing room and walk-in closet, as well as an en suite bath. The two additional bedrooms, at the opposite site of this level, each come with large closets too, and share the second bathroom pictured here.
There's more entertaining to be done on the roof terrace, already landscaped and equipped with a grill and seating. The listing notes that there's a washer and dryer in the home, as well as central air conditioning.
