If it's a Harlem perch you want, it's a Harlem perch you get with this three-bedroom, two-and-a-half-bath penthouse rental, which gives you sweeping views of a bustling section of the neighborhood, especially from its 1,173-square-foot terrace that's already landscaped and decked out with furniture, a grill, and a fireplace. You'll be just blocks from all the restaurants, bars, and retail of 125th Street, and it's a quick jaunt to Morningside Park.

Listed by Corcoran, the apartment rents for $9,995 per month, which may leave some shaking their heads at the pace of development in the neighborhood; still, the rental does deliver a lot of style and space.

The open plan living area gets a bright, airy feel from its multiple exposures and large windows, and some NYC edge from its exposed brick wall. (That staircase leads to the private roof terrace.) In the kitchen, hang out at the breakfast bar, or make use of the brand-name appliances, which include a wine fridge and a washer and dryer.

The master bedroom, in the southwest corner of the apartment, is similarly sunny, and comes with a walk-in closet and en-suite bath, done up in slate-gray tiles, with a separate walk-in shower and tub.

There are two additional, sizeable bedrooms, as well as another one-and-a-half-bath in the hall. Note that if you like the look of the place now, you can opt to rent it furnished, though no word on exactly how much that would to the apartment's cost.

We'd definitely opt to hang onto the roof terrace's furnishings—the space looks entertaining-ready. You'll have acess to additional perks, like full-time doorman, a common roof deck, and on-site parking.
