Affordable units available starting at $833/month in a new Murray Hill luxury rental
Promising news for those who qualify: 160 affordable rentals have become available in an unusual new luxury rental building in Murray Hill. The listing on NYC Housing Connect reveals studios and one, two, and three-bedrooms available to renters earning salaries between $29,898 and $63,060, depending on household size. More details below:
The rentals, at 626 First Avenue, are in the American Copper Buildings, an architecturally striking development designed by SHoP Architects, with construction managed by JDS Construction Group. Comprising two "dancing" copper towers on the East River connected by a skybridge, the 800-unit property is also chock full of amenities, including a gym, lap pool, spa, children's playroom, and rooftop pool, although additional charges apply for the latter. New York YIMBY visited back in April and noted the stunning city and river views.
According to JDS, the property is slated to open in early 2017. Preference for 50 percent of the affordable units will go to current neighborhood residents, which means those living in Manhattan Community Board 6.
If you're interested and think you qualify, you can create a profile and apply online via NYC Housing Connect, or request a paper application by mailing a self-addressed envelope to American Copper Buildings c/o Breaking Ground, PO Box 3620937, New York, NY, 10129. The application deadline is October 14, 2016.
