ASTORIA, QUEENS: A two-bedroom co-op in the Acropolis, a large apartment complex near the train station; there's a washer and dryer in the apartment. Note that this is a sponsor unit, meaning you won't have to vie for board approval. $469,000 plus $798 in monthly maintenance charges.

In a city where it's not unusual for one-bedrooms to go for well over $500,000, it's reassuring to know that you can still find a lot more space than that for under half a million, if you know where to look. Here are apartments (and a house!) available for $500,000—and in some cases, much less—across all five boroughs of NYC.
