A bunch of affordable rentals just opened up in the Bronx—here's how to get one
For anyone on the hunt for affordable housing, it's time to take your search uptown—apartments in several buildings across the Bronx have just opened up applications, with options as cheap as $975 for a studio.
Per the listing on NYC Housing Connect, the apartments are being marketed by local affordable housing developer Bronx Pro Real Estate Management, and amenities at the buildings will include an on-site super, "energy-efficient appliances, sleek modern kitchens and baths, [and] hardwood floors." There are a total of 20 apartments spread across buildings at 1350 University Avenue, 1268 Stratford Avenue, 1265 Morrison Avenue, 1585 East 172nd Street, 1589-91 East 172nd Street, and 1479 Macombs Road, Bronx, several of which were purchased by developers a few years back after years of debt and neglect at the hands of an accused "slumlord."
The full list of apartment sizes, availabilities, and income caps can be found below (or on NYC Housing Connect):
Preference for half of the apartments will be given to current residents of the Bronx's Community Boards 4 and 9, and the deadline for applications is June 24th.
If you think you may qualify and are interested in applying, you can make a profile and submit an application via NYC Housing Connect, or request a paper application by sending a self-addressed envelope to: MGM Apartments: c/o Bronx Pro Real Estate Management, Inc., 1605 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., Bronx, NY, 10453.
