Much ink has been spilled about the controversial new rental towers going up next door to the Cathedral of Saint John the Divine—a beloved, but not technically landmarked New York building—and now you can apply for a spot in one of the building's affordable rentals, per a new listing on NYC Housing Connect.

The Morningside Heights project—billed as Enclave at the Cathedral—is asking $2,515 for a studio and more than $5k/month for two-bedrooms, but also features 87 affordable rentals asking $867/month for a studio, $931/month for a one-bedroom, and $1,123/month for a two-bedroom, for renters making up to $51,780 per year, depending on apartment and family size. The full list of availabilities and requirements is below (click to enlarge):

According to the listing, renters in these apartments will have access to building-wide amenities like the laundry room, screening room, game room, fitness center, and outdoor terrace roof deck areas, though extra fees may apply. (There's also set to be an art gallery on site.)

And as usual with these type of affordable rentals, preference for half of the apartments will be giving to current neighborhood residents, in this case of Manhattan's Community Board 9, which encompasses parts of Morningside Heights and Harlem. If you're interested and think you may qualify, you can create a profile and apply online via NYC Housing Connect (we've got tips on the process here), or request a paper application by sending a self-addressed envelope to: ENCLAVE AT THE CATHEDRAL c/o Urban Associates, LLC., P.O. Box 4089, NEW YORK,NY 10023. Applications are due April 12th, and resist the temptation to send in more than one—if you're caught doubling up, you could be disqualified altogether.
