Apply now: affordable housing options in Williamsburg, Fort Greene, and Harlem

So far, 2016 is shaping up to be a good time to apply to affordable housing: in addition to the 75 brand new Midtown rentals that started taking applications earlier this week, options have now opened up in Harlem, Fort Greene, and Williamsburg, per several new listings on NYC Housing Connect.

First up, 149 Kent Ave, a new Williamsburg waterfront development that YIMBY reports will also have retail on the ground floor, is now taking applications for 33 affordable rentals. Renters in affordable units will also have access to the building's rooftop lounge, laundry rooms, community terrace, entertainment lounge, and fitness room, according to the listing.

The apartments are a mix of studios, one-bedrooms, and two-bedrooms ranging from $563/month to $926/month for renters with household incomes between $19,303 and $43,150, depending on apartment and family size. Further south in Fort Greene, there are 282 affordable apartments available at 250 Ashland Place (or "The Ashland"), for families with household incomes all the way up to $200,400, depending on apartment and family size. The mixed-use building also has perks such as a roof deck, concierge, and residents' lounge, though for extra fees. Rents range from $801/month for a studio to $3,649 for a three-bedroom, and applications are due April 11th. Last up, in a smaller building uptown, 34 apartments are now taking applications at 260 West 153rd Street in West Harlem. The options are a mix of studios, one-bedrooms, and two-bedrooms with rents ranging from $641/month to $836/month and income requirements topping out at $43,150.
