Applications opened this week for affordable rentals in the Ocean Hill, Bed-Stuy, and Clinton Hill areas of Brooklyn, according to a pair of listings on NYC Housing Connect. There are a total of 92 apartments available in four different buildings. And unlike some recent additions to Brooklyn's affordable housing scene, these apartments are priced more appropriately, with one-bedrooms as low as $689/month.

The first listing is for an affordable housing development at 331 Saratoga Avenue in Ocean Hill, with five $689/month one-bedrooms; 11 $835/month two-bedrooms; eight $844/month one-bedrooms; and 15 $1,022/month two-bedrooms available to applicants with household incomes ranging from $25,029 to $51,780, depending on apartment and family size (full details and requirements can be found here).

The building has a 24-hour attended lobby, a community room, "outdoor landscaped recreation space with playground," indoor parking for bikes, and a computer/library room. To apply, create a profile and submit an online application via the NYC Housing Connect website, or mail a self-addressed postcard or envelope to Bergen Saratoga, L.P., P.O. Box 1185 Colonial Park Station, 99 Macombs Place, New York, NY 10039.

The second listing is for the Park Monroe II apartments, a development that's comprised of three buildings in Bed-Stuy, Ocean Hill, and Clinton Hill.  There are four $858/month studios; 12 $922/month one-bedrooms; two $1,245/month one-bedrooms; 23 $1,113/month two-bedrooms; two $1,501/month two-bedrooms; four $1,285/month three-bedrooms; one $1,734/month three-bedrooms; three $1,438/month four-bedrooms; and two $1,937/month four-bedrooms available in total. Applicants with an annual household income between $30,789 and $114,000 can qualify, depending on apartment and family size (full details and requirements can be found here).  Again, you can apply via the NYC Housing Connect website, or by mailing a self-addressed postcard or envelope to  NEBHDCo 132 Ralph Avenue Brooklyn, NY 11233. For both developments, the application deadline is October 5th.
