A garbage can that vacuums and sends text messages
Once in a blue moon, you meet a special someone who's so amazing, so delightful you wonder if he's too good to be true. And in most cases, you'll be right to turn and flee. But hope springs eternal, and if that special someone were, say, a triple threat — someone who cleans, communicates and makes your life easy for you — you might be persuaded to believe again. If its Kickstarter campaign is to be believed, that special someone is Bruno: the trash can that doubles as a vacuum and sends you a message when it's garbage day and you're running low on bags.
Here's how it's supposed to be a dream: Bruno is wi-fi enabled, and communicates with you via your Smartphone. It also has a vacuum "inlet" that can suck up detritus like pet hair and crumbs (as long as you sweep the dirt toward it). The product's gotten a lot of press; no surprise given that its inventors have had some success with other products, including the Slapwatch. (Full disclosure: We love the Slapwatch!)
With less than two weeks to go, Bruno's call to Kickstarter arms is fully funded, but pledging nets you a discount on the Bruno Smartcan plus, depending on your level of commitment, a three-month supply of 13-gallon trash bags.
If it delivers on what it promises — including texting when it's expected to — we may have to marry it.
