Dear Ms. Demeanor: My doggie playdate went bad. Who's at fault?

Dear Ms. Demeanor,

My neighbor and I were having a doggie playdate (our two dogs love to play together) and my dog ate something at her house that made him sick and required a vet trip. Who's responsible?

Best,
The Dog-lover next door

Dear Dog-lover,

If you were present at the playdate, you were still responsible for your own dog and his behavior.  Unless the toxic substance was actually given to the dog intentionally by the neighbor, this one is on you.

If it was a drop off play date and your dog was not appropriately supervised, I think it is reasonable to send the intended supervisor the bill. Just don't expect to have anymore play dates, drop off or otherwise.

Woof-woof,
Ms. Demeanor
