StreetEasy’s Most Wanted: Dressed to the nines (and priced under $900k)

Any New Yorker who’s cringed at the sight of a seven-digit price tag should be pleased to know that apartments in Manhattan can indeed be bought for well under a mil. This week's Most Wanted — the 10 most saved sales listings on StreetEasy.com this week — features several budget-friendlier options.

For $450k, you can buy a courtyard-facing one-bedroom postwar co-op on East 21st and Third Avenue. With a walk-in and two additional closets, there's plenty of storage for one person. There's also an HVAC system in the bedroom and living room, and a doorman and live-in super downstairs. 

Next we head downtown to a one-bedroom co-op in Soho being offered for $500k. Located on the corner of MacDougal and West Houston Streets, this pet-friendly unit lets in western light through large windows. It also has high ceilings, hardwood floors, a windowed bathroom and an office alcove. But the "low-cost" tenement-style unit comes without a doorman.

Coming in just under $900k is this $895k two-bedroom, two-bath brownstone co-op on West 89th between Riverside Drive and West End Avenue. There’s no doorman, but an elevator opens directly into the unit, which features a recently renovated kitchen and master bathroom. Tall windows offer exposures to the north and south, and there are some great details such as exposed brick walls, high ceilings and an apparently functional wood-burning fireplace.

If you’ve got the dough and are looking for a home upwards of $900k, you can pack up a moving truck and move right into a two-bedroom co-op on West Broadway between Prince and West Houston Streets on the market for $2.295 million. The open kitchen has a center island and name-brand appliances (Miele, SubZero and Gaggenau). There's also central air with a built-in humidifier, and a Sonos sound system with speakers and volume controls throughout. Maintenance in the 10-unit building is just $860 a month, which compensates for the hot-and-cold running tourists outside.
