StreetEasy’s Most Wanted: Baby, it’s (not?) cold outside
Even with the cold weather setting in, New Yorkers are apparently still setting their sights on abodes that offer private outdoor space. This week, the roundup of StreetEasy’s Most Wanted -- the 10 sales listings saved more often than any others by StreetEasy users this week -- includes several apartments boasting private outdoor space.
You’ll get double the outside space for your buck with a $1.1m two-bedroom, one-bath co-op in a townhouse on 37th between Lexington and Third. The walk-up penthouse duplex has two private terraces. The north terrace offers views of both the Empire State Building and the Chrysler Building, plus it’s landscaped and equipped with electricity and water. The south terrace is located off the second bedroom. If the two terraces don’t provide enough of a taste of the outdoors, there are also three skylights. Maintenance is $985.
Over in Park Slope, a $725k two-bedroom, two-bathroom condo on Seventh Street between Fourth and Fifth Avenues has a private roof terrace of approximately 700 square feet. In case it gets too cold outside, there’s a wood-burning fireplace inside and central heating (and a/c for the summer). An oversized skylight offers natural light while arched windows and exposed brick add to the prewar charm. There’s also a W/D and a split bedroom layout for privacy. The monthlies are fairly low (common charges $270, monthly taxes $91) and include steam heat and hot water, which may compensate for the fact that it’s a 4th floor walk-up.
Also in Park Slope is a new-to-market two-bedroom, two-bath townhouse with a backyard going for $950k. The two-story home is located on Garfield Place (between Fourth and Fifth Avenues). The eat-in kitchen has been renovated, and in addition to granite countertops and stainless steel appliances, is also equipped with a built-in wine cooler.
