StreetEasy's Most Wanted: Spring is in the air -- family-sized abodes with outdoor space

Every New Yorker dreams of just a little bit of private outdoor space. As we can see from this edition of StreetEasy’s Most Wanted -- the 10 sales listings everybody browsing the real estate website this week saved more than any others -- StreetEasy users were busy tracking down family-sized apartments with private outdoor space (perhaps so they and their offspring can catch some fresh air in time for spring).

Two private terraces are the highlights of a $1.295m two-bedroom, one-bathroom apartment  in a postwar co-op on 21st Street and Third Avenue in Gramercy Park. Both terraces face south and offer views of Brooklyn Bridge, Clock Tower, the Verrazanno and the Freedom Tower. Plus, you can see the Chrysler Building from the master bedroom. There's no washer/dryer in the apartment, but a custom maple wall unit hides a built-in Bose sound system and a 46-inch Samsung TV, not to mention storage space. Pieds-a-terre are not allowed, but co-purchasings and pets. The monthly maintenance of $1,580 is quite reasonable.

Across the bridge in Prospect Heights on Underhill Avenue between Pacific and Dean Streets, you’ll find an $869k two-bedroom, two-bathroom condo with a private terrace. The corner penthouse also has a wall of east-facing windows. You can enjoy the Jacuzzi in the master bedroom after a breath of fresh air on the terrace. And you can whip up meals in the eat-in kitchen with granite counters, an island with additional storage space and top-notch appliances.

Elsewhere in Brooklyn, a three-bedroom, two-bathroom condo in Boerum Hill, listed for $875k, offers two balconies -- one off the living room and one off the master bedroom. Located on Bergen Street (between Third and Fourth Avenues), the fetching abode has a keyed elevator that opens directly into its own private entry vestibule. Off the living room through French doors is one of the balconies. The living room also has a full-sized dining area, custom built-in shelving and a desk. The balcony off the master bedroom overlooks townhouse gardens. The unit also comes with private key basement storage, and phase-in on a 421a tax abatement begins in 2015 (and expires in 2020). The building is walking distance from the Barclays Center (which may or may not be a good thing, considering recent noise complaints).
