The Open House Scorecard: 3 family-sized UES co-ops that accept pets & co-purchasers (or pied a terres)
The East 70s--where high ground and high property values are roughly aligned--are the stars of this edition of the Open House Scorecard -- the 10 open houses StreetEasyusers saved to their open-house planners more often than any others this weekend.
On East 73rd Street between Second and Third Avenues, a prewar$1.299m two-bedroom, two-bathroom co-op offers an elegant, white wood-burning fireplace. The full-service co-op building has a gym, garden, central laundry, bike room and storage (subject to availability). The building also allows pets, as well as pied-a-terres, guarantors and co-purchasers on a case-by-case basis. The $2,660 maintenance includes electricity and basic cable.
One street down and one block over on East 72 (between Second and First Avenues) is a $1.395m three-bedroom, two-bath co-op in a full service building. The postwar building offers a 24-hour doorman, live-in super, a common courtyard, laundry on every floor (plus washers and dryers are allowed in every apartment!), rentable storage units, a garage and a bike room. Pied-a-terres, co-purchasing and pets are allowed, and the lobby and hallways have recently been renovated. The apartment is a corner unit with windows in every room and northern, southern and eastern exposures.
Two blocks up on 72nd between Lex and Third is a renovated$1.295m two-bedroom, two-bath co-op. There’s a wall of east-facing windows, and the bathrooms are adorned in marble. Maintenance is relatively low at $1,545, and the building has a gym and garage. Plus, it’s pet and pied-a-terre friendly.
