The Open House Scorecard: Brooklyn Livin’
Today's Open House Scorecard -- the 10 open-houses StreetEasy users saved to their calendars more than any others over the weekend -- highlights a host of apartments with special touches that are generally more affordable in Brooklyn.
So, if you’re looking for private outdoor space, a windowed kitchen or in-unit W/D outside the hustle and bustle of Manhattan--and, in typically Brooklyn fashion, you don't really care about having a doorman--take notes.
In Prospect Heights, an $879k three-bedroom condo on Underhill Avenue between Dean and Pacific Streets is a corner unit with two balconies off the living/dining area (pictured) and an open, windowed chef’s kitchen. The elevator building also features a courtyard. Plus, 14 windows with double exposures provide plenty of light.
On Third Place between Court and Smith Streets in Carroll Gardens, a keyed elevator opens directly into a $949k three-bedroom condo with a south-facing private terrace overlooking flowering gardens. A washer and dryer, built-in gas fireplace, multi-zone underfloor radiant heat and central a/c round out this space.
Over in Park Slope, a $599k two-bedroom, one-bath walk-up condo on the corner of Eighth Avenue and Eighth Street comes with roof rights, though you’ll have to build your own deck. The building itself has a shared roof deck, and Prospect Park is around the block. The renovated unit has a Miele W/D.
Also in Park Slope on 15th Street between Fifth and Fourth Avenues, a $659k two-bedroom condo features a private terrace off the living room. The open kitchen has been renovated, and there’s an in-unit W/D. A J-51 tax abatement is in place for several more years makes the carrying charges fairly low (common charges $398, taxes $91/mo).
